If the PhD-students have their own funding from for example CSC, the potential PhD-student can find a supervisor that would like to be their supervisor. Since the scholarship from CSC is less than the KI -minimum, approx. 2 350 US dollars/month it is necessary for the supervisor to top up the scholarship, but to do so is requiring a bit of bureaucracy. This is due to that PhD-students on external grants should have a salary some what equal to what a Swedish PhD-student get. If you have PhD-students that has grants and would like to do a PhD they can on their own contact potential supervisors and start discussion regarding doing a PhD. In the link above there is a link to all PhD-positions that are openly announce. The names of PI and supervisors can be found at the bottom of each announcement. If the PhD-student contact them by themselves, the initiative is of an individual students.
